MCI attracted four million subscribers as of March 2008-12-29

The reason for this low sale in comparison with previous Iranian years is appearing private operators.
By end of last Iranian year (ending March 2008) MCI generally have sold 24,509,714 mobile phone numbers.
The MCI subscribers numbers up to December 2008 has reached to 28 million (11.5 million prepaid and 16.5 million postpaid subscribers).
This number of subscriber attraction seems little in comparison with previous years.
The highest number of MCI subscribers growth was between 2006 – ۲۰۰۷ state owned MCI has sold nine million sim cards.
Decreasing MCI sim card sale has several reasons. One of them is rival operator presence Irancell with less sim card price and call fee, another is market saturation especially in Tehran with different sim cards and the last is entering prepaid sim cards to market.
Market insiders predict that with entering third operator in next year people tend to buy prepaid sim cards more than postpaid ones.
