“MCI income from sms in last Iranian year (ending March 2008) was 2.12 trillion rials (212 million dollars),” MCIs managing director Vahid Sadoughi said.
“The companys income in the first half of this Iranian year has decreased 12 percent in comparison to the same period last year. The reason can be attributed to subscribers using Persian font sms rather than non-Persian font,” he added.
Sadoughi said that around 80 percent of transmitted sms are in Persian font.
“By offering mms (multi media messaging service) regulation in 21 November – ۲۰ December period, worries about prank calls will decrease,” he added.
