Domestic producers take advantage of mobile sets import tariff, commerce official

“Increasing mobile sets import tariff will not affect the hike in the mobile sets price. Currently mobile phone price in Iran is less than other countries,” Iran commerce and development organization head Mahdi Ghazanfari told Mobna news agency.
“In addition mobile phone import tariff in neighboring countries like Pakistan and India is very high so increasing mobile sets import tariff in Iran does not create any problem,” he added.
“The complaints about this issue emanates mostly from manufacturers because they are likely to lose their revenue,” he said.   
“But increasing mobile sets import tariff in Iran has profit for domestic manufacturers and mobile phone industry,” he added.
“Levying this tariff was aimed to prepare domestic market to attract foreign investors and prosper mobile phone production in country,” he added.
