Compensation for damages to domestic mobile set manufacturers to be studied: expert

“So far the Parliament and government agencies have failed to support domestic mobile set manufacturers effectively, and so it is necessary that a body is formed as soon as possible for the purpose,” Mohsen Asad-Nia told  Mobna news agency in reference to difficulties confronting domestic mobile set manufacturers
He also stressed that the manufacture of mobile sets in the country continues, and suggested that the government devises a new import tariff to satisfy both importers and domestic manufacturers.
Two has passed since, in a bid to protect domestic mobile set production, the import tariff for the item was raised but only 300,000 mobile sets have been manufactured in the country.
In an agreement with the industry and mines ministry, it was supposed that each of the country’s three mobile set manufacturers produce 2 million sets annually but the target has yet to be fulfilled.
Over the past two years mobile sets import tariff has undergone changes from 4 to 60 and now stands at 25 percent.
