Parliament urges repeat of Third Operator tender

”The Third Operator dossier is quite clear and to select the tender winner the tender should be either held again or a suitable person takes charge of the project,” Ali Motahhari told Mobna news agency.
”Since all the stages of Third Operator tender have been carried out, repeating the tender will not take long,” he said.
”Parliament will form a workgroup, comprising of MPs and ICT ministry representatives, to organize the operator’s position,” he continued.
”The workgroup will be formed after Parliament recess,” he said.
Tamin-Etisalat consortium was selected as Third Operator tender winner. It was planned that the operator would pay the Government 16 trillion rials and attract 17 million subscribers in the course of 15 years.
The consortium was dismissed, however, for failing to fulfill its investment opportunities.
Zain-Iran consortium, the tender runner-up, was also dismissed for the same reason.
