“There is no document in Privatization Organization on the sale of 21 percent of MTN-IranCell shares,” Gholam-Reza Kord Zanganeh told MOBNA news agency.
“Second Operator is presumed as a private company by PO, and Telecommunication Company of Iran should make an effort to sell off its 21 percent ownership of MTN-IranCell,” he added.
“Even PO cannot affect the timing of the sale set by TCI,” he said.
Three years have passed since MTN-IranCell first sold its sim cards in Iran and its officials claim that it has now 14 million subscribers.
Before the replacement of Turkish operator TurkCell with the African operator (MTN) as Iran’s Second Operator, the Economic Council had approved that 21 percent of MTN-IranCell shares be deposited into Melli Bank and Post Bank accounts and only after two years of operation be offered on Bourse.
