Negotiation with Omantel is contrary to third operator tender document: RCRO head

“According to tender documents if Zain-Iran consortium accepts decreed conditions to enter third mobile phone operator project, we will enter next stages of negotiations with this consortium,” Mahmoud Khosravi told Iran’s mobile news agency (MOBNA).
“After this stage by offering a report to government, final decision for third operator winner will be made,” he said.
“In this situation third operator tender likely will be held again. We should wait for the result of negotiation with Zain-Iran consortium,” he added.
He declined negotiation with Omantel as third winner of tender and said that in current situation according to tender documents only Zain has been negotiated and negotiation with Omantel is opposed to tender conditions.
Meanwhile although Tamin-Etisalat consortium has been announced as third operator tender winner, but a Zain-Iran consortium official had said that RCRO was negotiating with Zain simultaious with Etisalat.
Zain-Iran consortium compromises of Iran Broadcasting Organization retired fund, Iran teachers retired fund and Kuwaiti operator zain which was selected as third operator tender second winner after Etisalat.
Telecommunication minister had said that Tamin-Etisalat consortium was dismissed from the project because it could not use the opportunity to invest in this project.
It was planned that Temin-Etisalat consortium to pay 160,000 trillion rials to government during 15 years.
