International call smuggling reduced with internet phone license

Tehran, May 25. MOBNA – By granting license to more internet phone companies (VOIP) active in termination and origination sectors, it would be possible to cut international call smuggling, Telecommunication Company of Iran PR director announced.

“There are ways to deal with the issue such as deactivating lines through which such activity is carried out, confiscation of their equipment or prosecuting culprits,” Davoud Zareian told Mobna news agency.
He believed, under the circumstances, the best way to tackle the issue would be to issue license to more VOIP companies.
The new president of Communication Infrastructure Company, Mahmoud Khosravi, had recently announced that 60% of international call smuggling was carried out via mobile and 40% via landline phone.
