Mobile operators overcharge subscribers over sim card deactivation

“Only when a sim card is deactivated through owner’s negligence should the owner pay for the consequence otherwise it is the operator who should be held to account,” Mohammad-Reza Khabbaz told Mobna news agency.
“The same question had been asked from the ICT Minister some two months ago but he failed to give a plausible answer,” he added.
Mobile operators attribute factors such as heat, shock, voltage fluctuation and wrong installation of the sim card as cause of deactivation but at the same time argue that sim card is a consumer product and as such has a limited lifespan.
