Government agencies reluctant to buy domestic mobiles

“Mobile phone is now regarded as a personal gadget and as such is not sought after by Government agencies,” Hamid-Reza Monji told Mobna news agency.
“In addition, because of widespread availability of good-quality smuggled sets on the Tehran market, domestic manufactured mobiles are generally not welcomed and most of them are shipped to other cities,” he added.
The Ministry of Commerce had recently instructed Government agencies to have preference for domestic-manufactured ICT equipment if they had to purchase them.
Emad Semiconductors is one of country’s mobile phone manufacturers which is affiliated to the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO).
