Tamin Telecom wins Third Operator project

The contract has been signed by ICT Minister, Reza Taghipour and Social Security Minister, Sadegh Mahsouli, and assigned to Tamin Telecom, a subsidiary of the Social Security Organization.
Last year, the ICT Minister had announced that the project would be operational by the end of the year and its sim card would be issued early this year.
Third Operator is required to issue 17 million sim cards over the next 15 years and it is expected that there will be an intense competition between it and other three existing operators, namely: First, Taliya and Second (IranCell) in offering good-quality services.
Tamin Telecom had earlier formed a consortium with Emirates’ mobile phone operator Etisalat and had won the tender, but the latter was later dismissed from the project for failure to fulfill its obligations.
