“The company has produced 75,000 Hyundai mobile sets, of which 15,000 have been exported to Persian Gulf states,” Hamid-Reza Monji told Mobna news agency.
“It has produced this amount despite high import tariff and problems with customs clearance,” he added.
“Domestic producers are subject to customs duties in order to produce mobile sets while they are exempt from it if they manufacture and export them from Kish Island Free Zone,” he said.
“Regarding the current mobile market situation, manufacturers only produce domestic mobile sets in little volume. Their activity will expand only when smuggling is genuinely tackled with,” he said.
Emad Semiconductors is one of two companies which have contract with the Industries and Mines Ministry to produce 2 million mobile sets annually.
