Targeted subsidies act to start by March 2009 pending Parliament approval

“In this act, the prices will increase gradually and reach their ultimate level after 5 years,” Ali-Asghar Yousefnejad told Mobna news agency.
“The level of Tariff increase is up to the government who will increase them on the basis of price changes,” he said.
Based on the subsidies Act, which has been approved by Parliament, the government is required to adjust postal service rates by the end of the Fifth Economic Development Plan
The act means revising the third term of the plan, according to which the government is obliged to implement postal rates to what they were before September 2004.
The Post Office has exceeded the rate by 40% since 2004 and despite complaints by private operators and Post Office customers the overcharging continues.
