ICT and Transportation ministries’ merger not necessary: head of Parliament committee

“It is hoped that the new Information and Communication Technology minister would solve ICT sector problems. Although the merger proposal is passing through Parliament committees, we should wait and see new minister’s performance,” Ali Motahhari told Mobna news agency.
“It is hoped that the objectives of the 10th government ICT minister would be to support the information technology sector,” he said.  
The planned merger between ICT and Transportation ministries had been approved by Parliament industries and mines committee in order to shrink the government but needs to be passed by Parliament.
After the merger, the ministry will be named Ministry of Transportation and Communication.
