Surge in mobile set smuggling

“With the current 25 percent import tariff and the 3 percent VAT, the activities of authorized importers are now minimal,” Morteza Khorasani, managing director of Goldiran, LG’s authorized agent in Iran, told Mobna news agency.
He said the situation has encouraged smugglers to increase their 85 percent of the market to over 90 percent.
He said poor supervision by the authorities concerned has exacerbated the condition and believed only a zero import tariff could improve the situation.
