Authorized mobile phone import share not much in market: economic expert

“Statistics shows that last year around 15 million mobile sets were imported into the country out of which only two million were imported through legal means,” Hasan Farajifar told Mobna news agency.
“The issues of smuggled mobile sets and the effect the mobile sets tariff on decreasing the sets’ smuggling have prompted commodity and rate anti-smuggling committee to pay attention to the issue,” he added.
“Previously commodity and rate anti-smuggling committee officials have sent a letter to the government and requested mobile sets import tariff to be reviewed, but so far nothing happened,” he said.
“Not having domestic production, extended mobile sets smuggling, import profit and users damages are among problems attributed to the mobile sets high tariff in Iran,” Farajifar added.
