Launch of 407 mobile phone projects in Government Week

In addition, 5,645 telecommunication projects, worth around 3.913 trillion rials (416 million dollars), will be launched in that period.
Other projects being launched in Government Week include 711 rural ICT offices, 558 rural telecom bureaus and 979 mobile phone BTS sites.
Currently, there are over 24,210,000 landline phones in the country, with a usage rate of 33.61 per cent, although with its delivery on demand and the shortage of applicants its progress is slow.
On the other hand, mobile phones usage rate and its subscribers have risen to over 50 percent and over 35 million respectively.
Some 52,792 villages out of 53,000 are currently enjoying telecommunication services.
