Predicting foreign firms taking part in third mobile operator tender impossible: telecom official

“So far various foreign operators have expressed informally that they wish to take part in the tender but no formal application has been made,” Irans telecommunication ministry’s international affairs director Ahamd Pourangnia said.
He said that Megafon, Ettesallat and some Kuwaiti companies have informally announced their willingness to participate, and they are also in negotiation with China Mobile operator.
He said that the publication of tender documents will occur next, and with the purchase of such document the exact number of participants will be known.
It is to be said that the third nation wide mobile phone operator will be a challenge to current operators which could lead to better services and cut in tariffs, but, most importantly, it is the fact that the its services will be in 3G technology.
