Mobile phone penetration rate to exceed 60% this year

penetration rate to pass the 60% mark once 1st and 2nd operators and Taliya have delivered their SIM cards.
Vafa Ghaffarian, in conversation with MOBNA indicated the current rate is 50%.
He said 1st Operator intends to double its prepaid SIM card network capacity, which is now 10m subscribers, and predicted IranCell and Taliya would soon follow suit.
He said that Hamraah-e Avval SIM card delivery will continue at 1,500,000 Rial for postpaid and 340,000 Rial for prepaid categories after Telecom privatization.
He emphasized the increase in penetration rate, mobile phone network quality improvement and timely SIM card delivery are now ICT ministry’s top priority.
