Mobile phone service tariff reduction

The minister was quoted as saying the reductions will be in the range of 30% to 50%.
Services such as change of name, change of address and installation of sound box (VMS) are among those that undergo such reduction.
The minister has indicated that services such as ID caller activation and Payamac (SMS), which were charged 20,000 Rial so far will be free.
Charges towards change of name, address and SIM card, which were 100,000, 50,000, and 70,000 Rial respectively, have been reduced to 50,000, 30,000 and 50,000 Rial respectively.
The 20,000 Rial charge for sound box installation has been reduced to 10,000 Rial.
The minister has also announced provision of SMS service for landline phones in the current year whose tariff has been determined in the RCRC’s last Sunday session.
The minister has added that other telecom companies in the country have received approval for such services, and hoped the SMS on landline phones will be available to all such subscribers.
