Thriving MCI prepaid sim card market

Its good and widespread antenna reception has made it a favorite with shoppers.
However, sim card retailers anticipate such state of affairs could lead to its price rise.
Its official price is 226,000 rials, although it is being sold at 300,000 rials on the black market.
Taliya and IranCell sim cards are on offer at 90,000 and 50,000 rials respectively.
New Mobile Company of Iran sim cards with codes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are sold at 5.50, 5.25, 3.75, 3.80, 3.50, 3.05 and 3.00 million rials respectively, while second-hand MCI sim cards with codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are sold at 5.70, 3.70, 3.10, 2.50, 2.45, 2.30, 2.25 and 2.20 million rials respectively.
MCI code 0910 sim card is sold at the official price of 1,230,000 rials.
In all, the country’s five mobile operators have up to now sold around 50 million pre- and postpaid sim cards.
