Road and Transportation Ministry most to blame for cuts in fiber optic cables

“This generally occurs when a country road is being widened, although that takes place under MCI supervision but sometimes some cables are damaged or cut through negligence,” Gholamreza Keshtgar told Mobna news agency.
“The bill on fiber optic protection zone allows Communication Infrastructure Company to specify a safe margin for the fiber optic cable as special zone so that no excavation would damage or sever the cable, and indeed such excavations should take place only with the prior knowledge of the ICT Ministry so that it has time to relocate the cable,” he added.
