Warehouses full of smuggled mobiles

“Sporadic control by Government over mobile set smuggling has resulted in expansion of such activity,” Fitco managing director, Nosratollah Sharifi, told Mobna news agency.
“The fact that 95 percent of the mobile market is now in the hands of smugglers goes to show that the police crack down on the practice has not been successful,” he added.
He said the imposition of 25 percent tariff on imported mobile set has proved unsuccessful in combating mobile smuggling.
“Most authorized mobile importers have now cut their prices in order to combat smuggling practices but, alas, to no avail,” he said.
