Iran’s internet penetration rate below 0.5% based on world indices

“Internet penetration rate in developed countries is nowadays determined through calculation of active high-speed internet ports,” Payam Karbasi said.
“There are now about 380,000 active high-speed internet ports in the country and therefore its internet penetration rate works out at below 0.5%,” he said.
“There are 1.6 billion internet users worldwide, among whom 500 million have high- speed internet. Therefore 3.7% of users worldwide have high-speed internet access,” he added.
On the basis of official figures published by Iran Data Company, Iran has 25.6 million internet users, of whom 400,000 have high-speed internet access (ADSL).
