Pointless mobile set production continues: an expert

“When mobile set manufacturing was launched in the country, manufacturers made a slight alteration to its previous production line (SaIran’s) without appreciating the fact that its technology had become out of date,” Mohammad Towhidi told Mobna news agency.
He said that most telecom factories are not sufficiently equipped for the purpose and are more suitable to be used as assembly lines.
Towhidi added that mobile set production is very profitable for countries which possess the required technology but at a time when no major foreign manufacturer is prepared to make investments in Iran it is unwise to pursue the matter any further.
He believed the authorities see the country’s annual 900-million-dollar mobile set transactions and feel they could seize the market with domestic mobile sets but are in fact ignoring the reality.
