Increase in calls shortens sim cards lifetime: Mobile Company official

“Mobile phone sim cards useful lifetime has a direct relation with its usage. Sim card is a consumer product with a limited life span and will be expired some day,” MCI Public Relation manager Davood Zareian told Mobna news agency.
“Agents such as how many times mobile set is switched on and off and number of transimitted sms reduce sim card lifetime,” he added. 
“If sim card is exposed to the sun light or water it will not work any more. Besides sim card useful lifetime depends on the raw sim card quality,” he said.
“Telecommunications Company of Iran raw sim cards are supplied from domestic companies in tenders and only some of these companies equipments are imported from abroad,” Zareian added.
In recent days reports about sim cards that suddenly stop working has risen and it became one of the debatable issues in newspapers and other medias.
Mobile Company of Iran changes sim card freely with active ones if it has been worn out due to the technical defect or passing lifetime. 
But if sim card has used up due to the lack of user attention, then MCI will change it charging the subscribers and after at least 24 hours.
