Local mobile phone operator, Espadan allowed adding on more subscribers: ministry

Espadan mobile phone operator only covers Isfahan.
“Regulation commission is studying Espadan mobile phone operator request to add on more subscribers,” deputy head of Regulation Organization Lotfollah Sabuhi told Mobna news agency.
Regulation organization of telecommunication ministry is a regulatory body which sets the standards of operation, issues operation license and oversees the functions of the phone operators.
“By issuing the permission this operator will operate on the basis of principles and special laws, like other operators,” he added.
“In this supplementary license there is subject about increasing network capacity up to 500,000 mobile phone subscribers. The operator in its original license could offer its services to 35,000 subscribers,” Sabouhi added.
“If the operator wants to increase its network capacity again, it should submit its request to Regulation organization,” Sabouhi added.
“In the new permission the services fee has not changed, only operation regulations for offering services to subscribers have been outlined,” he said.
“The permission has been discussed in regulation commission and if it is approved, then it will be handed over to operator,” he said.
Espadan operates in Isfahan and has 35,000 mobile phone subscribers.
Malaysian company TM International owns 49 percent of its stock, and Mobile Company of Iran has 49 percent of it.
Telekom Malaysia International (TMI) previously has announced its tendency to take part in Iran third national mobile phone operator tender.
