۲۵% mobile phone import tariff suitable – says MP

Mines had been against the low 10% mobile phone import tariff mainly for reasons of protection of domestic production while, he believed, the Trade Ministry imposed the 10% tariff to counter illegal influx of mobile phones.
He said the SKD tariff has been lowered from 10% to 4% although lowering the CBU tariff is not in sight.
The MP rated the untimely raising of tariff from 4% to 60% as crude and hasty, but conceded lowering it from 60% to 25% was a sound and logical move.
