Afshar Froutan Larijani, in conversation with MOBNA, said with the final approval of the new tariff, which will boost the activities of authorized agents, its sale on the black market will be minimal.
He indicated that buyers already witness the substantial price drop of handsets which were imported illegally in the past.
Iran Telecom, in a bid to contain the massive influx of illegal handsets, set out to register the serial-no of legally imported handsets so that prospective buyers would be encouraged to purchase those already registered with Telecom.
The scheme, however, was abandoned last summer, which led to chaos on the market, but some informed sources indicate that Telecom is secretly planning reintroduction of the system.
