Mobile set legal import down by $134m compared to 2006

Mobile set legal import in 2006 was over $142m, which reached $57m last year and in the first five months of this Iranian year has reached $8m.
On the basis of Iran Customs figures, most legal mobile set import has been done from Asia and Persian Gulf countries.
High mobile import tariff has led authorized importers to reduce their activity to a minimum and smugglers have meanwhile increased their share of the Iranian mobile market.
At present, over 95% of the market is besieged by low-quality and substandard smuggled mobile sets which are imported through illegal channels.
