Mobile import tariff not to be decreased: commerce official

“Tariffs are changed and corrected in the Article 1 commission and all ministries including mines and industries, economy, agriculture, custom, chamber of commerce and chamber of cooperative can offer new suggestions for the increase and reduction of tariffs to the commerce development organization,” commerce minister deputy Mahdi Ghazanfari told Mobna news agency.
Article 1 is a commission in the Commerce Ministrys commerce development organization which set the import tariffs.
“The current 25 percent tariff on the mobile phone import was chosen among different views, and so far we did not receive any new suggestion to change mobile sets import tariff,” he said.
“Increasing or decreasing tariffs is not logical and if the tariffs are changed less then the country economy and commerce system will be more stable,” he added.
“This year like the previous year tariffs will be announced every 6 months, in order for the importers to get used to the procedure,” Ghazanfari said.
