۱st Operator (Iran Telecom) is the country’s largest with capacity for 38m mobile and 30m landline phone subscriptions.
The operator now has 24m mobile and an equal number of landline phone subscribers.
It is currently state-owned but as its shares will be offered in bourse from June 11 it will gradually become private.
۳rd Operator, however, has license to serve 15m subscribers and its tender documents are now in the hands of a foreign consultant and is required to employ 3G technology.
WIMAX license has been issued for wireless data transfer based on the technology within a specified region.
The license is valid for 6 years and is issued for a specific province.
Among WIMAX features are audio, internet and intranet services to stationary receivers.
The license holder is required to cover 80% of the area stated in the license.
۱st and 3rd operator licenses are valid for 15 year.
