RCRO’s Wimax license overall approval

Communication & Regulations Organization has approved in its latest session the high speed data access Wimax license.
He indicated the service had been sporadically used before, but it was decided to be more widely used in the form of an operation structure.
He added that each province will be allocated 3 operators, who should enjoy domestic and foreign investments.
He stressed the Wimax tender will be held in May, hoping to select its winners in the following 3 months.
He remarked that in 9 months all provincial centers will be provided with Wimax service.
He hoped the service would somehow satisfy the public and the administrative bodies in need of broadband, and wished the government would encourage investment in the sector.
He stressed his ministry’s intention to boost the service’s penetration rate to at least 6% in the next 2 years.
