Tehran, 24 Nov. MOBNA – In initial nine days of this year Hajj pilgrimage 970,000 minutes calls have been made via mobile phone and landline between Iran and Saudi Arabia, telecommunication ministry official said.
“276,000 minutes of them were made from Iran to MCI sim cards in Saudi Arabia and 530,000 minutes calls were made from Saudi Arabia via mobile sets, landline and Arabic operator to Iran,” the head of Telecommunication ministrys dispatched team to Saudi Arabia Seyyed Fazel Zamani said.
“According to latest figures decreasing roaming fees between Iran and Saudi Arabia has lead to more calls to be made to Saudi Arabia,” Zamani added.
“Currently Mobile Company of Iran Roaming fee with Saudi Arabian operators Al-Jawal, Al-Ittihad and Zain is 1,670 rial,” he said.
“In initial nine days of this year Hajj pilgrimage 16,000 Iranian mobile phones have been activated in Saudi Arabia and have been used,” he asserted.
“Two of the ministrys dispatched team is in Medina and three are in Mecca who offer MCI needed services to Iranian pilgrims,” Zamani added.
“Since only Iran has roaming service with Saudi Arabia and other countries do not have roaming contracts with Saudi Arabia, Iranian pilgrims should not bring other operators sim cards to Saudi Arabia,” he said.
